School Board

Tarkington Independent School District is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees, each elected to at-large positions for three-year terms through non-partisan elections. Every year, either two or three positions are subject to election. Just like our administrative staff and teachers, board members are dedicated to serving our community to the best of their abilities.

TISD school board members proudly embrace their responsibility to ensure all students receive the appropriate educational opportunities. The Board of Trustees conducts all official business in transparent, open meetings. Discussions on personnel matters, student conduct, school security, pending litigation, and land acquisitions may occur privately, but the final decisions are made in the open meeting, adhering to the State of Texas laws regarding school board proceedings.

Regular school board meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month, unless otherwise posted. Meetings are held in the TISD Boardroom located in the Administration Office at 72 County Road 2268, in Cleveland TX, Board meetings typically begin in closed session at 5:30 p.m. and open for the public meeting after 6:30 p.m. See Agendas below for detailed meeting information.
