Health Services

Department Focus

At Tarkington ISD, our Health Services Department is dedicated to supporting the well‑being of every student so they can learn, grow, and thrive. Our mission is to promote a safe, healthy school environment by providing compassionate care, health education, and proactive support for students and families. Through collaboration with families, staff, and community partners, we strive to create a culture where student health is valued as an essential part of academic achievement and overall success.

In accordance with Texas Senate Bill 12, 89th Texas Legislature, the district is required to provide notice of each health-related service offered at a student’s campus.  A parent has the right to opt out and withhold consent for any of these services by submitting written notice to their campus nurse.  Consent will be implied/assumed, unless the parent/guardian opts out.  Consent for services will be considered effective until the end of the school year or the parent updates their consent status.  Our goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of all students while complying with new state regulations.

The following health related services are offered on all district campuses: routine first aid for minor injuries, emergency health services, health assessment and disease prevention, referral and management of acute and chronic health conditions, care for students with special health care needs, immunization compliance, promotion of routine health care, annual state mandated screenings and providing community health resources.
