2024 Bond Referendum

The Tarkington Independent School District (TISD) Board of Trustees has voted to call for a bond election totaling $80 million, scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The bond aims to fund critical infrastructure improvements across the district, including the construction of a new elementary school and various renovations and expansions at other campuses.

The proposed projects included in the bond, as recommended by the Future Forward Committee (comprised of local citizens, parents, civic and business leaders, and school staff) in May of 2024 are based on thorough facility assessments, demographic studies, enrollment projections, and district financial audits. Additionally, feedback was gathered from a bond survey that showed support for the proposed projects from a majority of the respondents.

Election Day is set for Tuesday, November 5, 2024, and early voting runs from October 21 to November 1, 2024. The last day to register to vote is Monday, October 7, 2024. You must be 18 years of age by Election Day to vote in the Bond Election.

Why Now?

The last bond passed in TISD was in 2003. That was the year Apple launched iTunes and George W. Bush was president. A lot has changed since then.
