Welcome to Tarkington ISD

Ami Potts is entering her 16th year of service in Texas public schools where she has served as a classroom teacher, interventionist, assistant principal, elementary principal, and middle school principal. Additionally, she was selected to be a district master principal and district mentor principal.

Under Mrs. Potts’ leadership, her former campus was named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School as an Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing School. Furthermore, the campus improved from a “D” rating to an “A” rating in three years, maintained an “A” rating for two consecutive years, while earning all five possible distinctions.

Mrs. Potts earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Wesleyan University, Master of Education in Administration, and Superintendent Certificate from Lamar University.

During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Kurtis, and their three German Shepherds. She also enjoys traveling and reading to stay current with best practices in education. She is looking forward to joining the Longhorn family!
