Contraband Searches
Tarkington High School and Middle School
(excerpt from the Student Handbook)
Searches by trained dogs are contracted with an independent company. These professional searches are conducted at unannounced times throughout the school year. These searches may result in a more detailed search, as a result of the dog's alert of the area. The alert of a trained dog to a locker, car, or any other location on TISD property provides reasonable cause for a search. Common areas of search will include, but are not limited to lockers, classrooms, and parking areas. Parent(s) or guardian is then contacted if a violation of the Student Code of Conduct has occurred.
